From F-15 Mechanic to Small Business Growth Expert
I began my journey after high school by studying Instrument & Control Technology in college, where I focused on emerging electronic systems used to manage boiler operating systems.
A year later, I enlisted in the United States Air Force, where I worked as an F-15 Aircraft Mechanic. I served at Eglin AFB in Florida and Bitburg AB in Germany, honing precision, troubleshooting, and systems management skills that would carry me through my entire career.
After returning to Michigan, I continued my service as a KC-135 Crew Chief until transitioning to civilian life in 1995. I began building my family with my high-school sweetheart and embraced a series of roles where I was tasked with turning struggling operations into thriving businDivideresses.
At DirecTV, I quickly advanced from an installer role to Operations Manager in SW Florida (Fort Myers), where I turned a struggling market into a regional leader in sales and service deliverables.
When shifts in the industry required me to pivot, I applied my adaptability and focus to financial services with Prudential Financial, earning Masters Council recognition for two consecutive years.
Later, I took on the role of Operations Manager for the largest pest control company in the world. Tasked with revitalizing a failing market in Michigan, we turned it into a highly profitable, successful operation.
In 2020, our revenue target for the year was $7M, and we started the year with record-breaking results in the first quarter.
When Covid-19 hit, it threatened to derail the business completely, with the risk of financial disaster and widespread layoffs.
Drawing inspiration from European markets, I implemented a sanitation project that turned things around. This initiative not only stabilized the business but allowed us to exceed our $7M revenue goal by over $2M, achieving remarkable success despite the pandemic.
This experience reinforced the power of adaptability, innovation, and leveraging systems to turn challenges into opportunities.
